Community Statement

The community that I plan to be part of is Conservation. More importantly the law enforcement side of conservation. The goals that I plan to do when part of this group is the conservation of wildlife and marine life. One of the biggest goals I want to work on would be the conservation of the local fisheries and small game animals that people seem to want to take too many of and could end up not taking too many and we no longer having them. What makes me unique in this community is my love for wildlife and to see it survive so that our grandkids will be able to enjoy what we currently have. What attracts me to conservation is that I love working outdoors and with wildlife. I would truly love to get up every day and know that I was going to be outside working to preserve wildlife for generations. I also feel like I am called to be a public servant. So, with the law enforcement side I would be able to serve the citizens of wherever I work and teach them the correct way to protect the wildlife. And at the same time, I would be able to correct misbehavior towards wildlife. One of the biggest influences in conservation for me is Steve Irwin and the whole staff at Australia Zoo. The reason Steve Irwin is my biggest is because the love of wildlife that he showed while he was alive is still something that his family has today. He brought so much education to the market about animals that otherwise no one would have ever thought about. His family today is still very huge into conservation and have bought huge amounts of land just so wildlife will always have a place to live in Australia. They have also spent millions on research. Some of the research that I’ve done for projects here at UAT were on the Coral Reefs and how we are killing them every day. And without our Reefs the oceans will turn into these huge dead areas where we have no life. The water will no longer be clean and would turn into a huge waste pool. My projects here in English 102 have helped me a huge amount with understanding how bad our Earth really is when it comes to wildlife. I have written a few papers on the effects of pollution in our waters forest. What made me aware of what was really going on in our environment was when I got into keep saltwater aquariums and started researching the correct way to care for the fish and corals and I started finding research on how Coral Bleaching is killing them and how we are throwing away so much trash that our oceans and forest have become landfills full of our junk. Which is why I would contribute my skills as a public servant to start protecting these environments from as much pollution and over use that I could. As someone who has worked in law enforcement for over 7 years, I have the skills to conduct the necessary work that is needed to be done in my local area to protect the environment and wildlife.
